CSB updates strategic plan

Washington – The Chemical Safety Board has released a revised strategic plan to include specifics on potential safety studies and place an increased emphasis on stakeholder outreach.

Issued July 12 as an update to its original 2007-2012 strategic plan (.pdf file), the new plan (.pdf file) covers 2012-2016 and includes three goals:

  • Conduct incident investigations and safety studies concerning releases of hazardous chemical substances
  • Improve safety and environmental protection by ensuring CSB recommendations are implemented, and by broadly disseminating CSB findings through advocacy and outreach
  • Preserve the public trust by maintaining and improving organizational excellence

The new strategic plan includes measureable objections to meeting all three goals, such as the number of studies completed, recommendation adoption rates and implementation of an internal communications survey.
