DOL requesting comment on regulatory review plan

Washington – The Department of Labor is accepting comment (.pdf file) until July 1 on its newly published plan outlining how it will assess current regulations.

The Preliminary Plan for Retrospective Analysis of Existing Rules (.pdf file) is the framework DOL and its agencies use to review significant rules and determine whether they are obsolete, unnecessary, unjustified, burdensome, counterproductive or duplicative.

Included in the plan for OSHA was phase three and four of the Standards Improvement Project, revisions to the hazard communication standard, and a study examining potential reforms to the agency’s approach for assessing oil and gas sector safety.
