NSC updates cell phone ban resources

The National Safety Council released its new white paper, Employer Liability and the Case for Comprehensive Cell Phone Policies (.pdf file), on April 25. The report explains how employers can be held liable when employees are involved in motor vehicle crashes where cell phone use was a factor.

To help companies implement a comprehensive policy, NSC updated its Cell Phone Policy Kit. The kit now includes a roll-out calendar, an activity guide, posters, tip sheets and materials explaining cognitive distraction.

The NSC white paper, Understanding the distracted brain: Why driving while using hands-free cell phones is risky behavior (.pdf file), has been updated with current statistics.

Both white papers are available in the kit or for individual download.
