Arlington, VA — To determine if additional first aid supplies are needed on a jobsite, consider the uniqueness of the work environment and the types of potential injuries.

Although OSHA's Medical Services and First Aid Standard states that "adequate first aid supplies shall be readily available," the agency doesn't provide a list of required items. Safety+Health reached out to several experts with questions to help workplaces get in compliance.

Dallas – About 10,000 cardiac arrest situations occur in the workplace each year, yet only 45 percent of U.S. employees have been trained in first aid – and only 50 percent of workers know where to find an automated external defibrillator – according to the results of a survey recently conducted by the American Heart Association.
