Silver Spring, MD – All health care personnel should get immunized against vaccine-preventable diseases, the American Nurses Association is advising in light of a recent measles outbreak.

A new position statement from ANA aligns with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. The only exemptions from immunization that ANA supports are for medical or religious reasons.

Vaccines can help prevent several potentially deadly diseases, including measles, mumps, diphtheria and pertussis.
