NSC president and CEO appointed to Automation in Transportation Advisory Committee
Deborah A.P. Hersman, president and CEO of the National Safety Council, has been appointed to serve on the Department of Transportation Advisory Committee on Automation in Transportation. The advisory committee provides counsel on technology that can help save lives and eliminate preventable deaths in all modes of transportation.
“Hersman’s dedication as a safety advocate and long-time multi-modal transportation expert is exactly the right fit for the advisory committee,” Rose McMurray, a former senior executive for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, said in an NSC press release announcing Hersman’s appointment.
Hersman previously served as chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board. She also has testified before Congress in support of establishing an automated vehicle policy.
