NSC Divisions update
Take a moment to catch up on what some of the National Safety Council Divisions are up to.
Business & Industry Division: The Business & Industry Division will host its first webinar of 2019 at 10 a.m. Central on Feb. 8. Art Buchanan, director of OSHA’s Office of General Industry and Agricultural Enforcement, will present the Top 10 most-cited general industry and manufacturing standards, as well as a quick review of the new Walking-Working Surfaces standard. Attend the event.
Government & Public Sector Division: There no longer will be monthly Government & Public Sector Division leadership calls. The calls now will be scheduled on an as-needed basis. Also new: monthly all-Division webinars, which will be on the second Monday of every month from 10 to 11 a.m. Central, unless the Division meets in person at NSC events. Participate in the next conference call on Feb. 11.
Transportation Safety Division: The Transportation Safety Division is nearing the conclusion of the first phase to update the popular Motor Fleet Safety Manual. Division members who are acting as contributing authors for the update are turning in their completed chapters to project lead Rich Carl. The next phase of the project is the peer review stage, during which the updated chapters will be reviewed by a different contributing author.
Young Professionals Division: The Young Professionals Division has kicked off its 2019 Student Mentor Program. Almost all the mentee/mentor pairs have been assigned. NSC student members interested in being paired with a professional mentor to add to their college/university experience should contact Christy Maes, program manager, divisions, at [email protected].
