NSC, Nissan partner on vehicle recall campaign

Check to Protect

Itasca, IL — Nissan Group has joined the Check to Protect coalition, which seeks to reduce the number of vehicles with open safety recalls, the National Safety Council recently announced.

Nissan and NSC will work together to spread the word to vehicle owners about the importance of checking for open safety recalls and, if applicable, getting their vehicles repaired for free at an authorized dealership.

“When vehicle owners ignore open recalls, they are putting their loved ones and others on the road potentially in danger,” Nick Smith, interim president and CEO of NSC, said in a March 8 press release. “We want owners to check their vehicles in order to protect the loved ones who ride with them. We’re so grateful to Nissan for taking a leadership role in this campaign.”

NSC and Nissan stated they will help increase recall awareness through community outreach events, ad campaigns, social media efforts, dealership participation and more.

“Nissan is committed to the safety and security of our customers and their passengers,” Selim Hammoud, director of product safety for Nissan North America, said in the release. “It is vitally important that owners know what recalls apply to their vehicles and to have remedy work completed as soon as possible.”
