May is Employee Health & Fitness Month

Buffalo, NY – This May marks the inaugural Employee Health & Fitness Month, created by the National Association for Health & Fitness and ACTIVE Life – two nonprofit organizations focused on healthy living.

The goal of the observance is to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle to employers and employees through workplace health promotions. Participants can create and share “Moments, Groups, and Projects for Health” activities such as bike rides with colleagues or preparing a healthy meal. These can then be logged on the EHFM website to track, share and promote. They also can download a toolkit (.pdf file).

“Business and industry can encourage positive behavior change in the supportive context of workplace policies and culture, and provide support that assists today’s workforce with their daily struggles,” said Diane Hart, president of NAHF.
