MSHA to host meetings on safety and health management programs

Arlington, VA – The Mine Safety and Health Administration is scheduled to host public meetings (.pdf file) to discuss effective safety and health management programs.

The first meeting is slated for Nov. 10 in Hoover, AL, in conjunction with the 6th annual Southeast Mine Safety and Health Conference in Birmingham, AL. Stakeholders from academia, the safety and health profession, industry, worker organizations, and government are invited to attend.

MSHA is pursuing two rulemakings related to developing safety and health management programs for mines – one addressing examinations of work areas in underground coal mines (.pdf file) and another revising the agency’s existing regulation for pattern of violations (.pdf file).
