NHTSA to discuss proposed distracted driving guidelines
Washington – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has scheduled three public meetings to discuss federally proposed guidelines applying to electronic devices installed by vehicle manufacturers.
The meetings are scheduled to take place:
- March 12 in Washington
- March 15 in Chicago
- March 16 in Los Angeles
Each meeting will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., local time.
The NHTSA guidelines would establish criteria for electronic devices installed in light vehicles, such as cars and minivans weighing less than 10,000 pounds, and include recommendations to minimize unsafe levels of distraction.
