OSHA extends comment period on State Plan effectiveness

Washington – Stakeholders wishing to provide input on how OSHA can define and determine whether State Plan states are “at least as effective” as the federal agency now have an extra four weeks to do so.

The comment period has been extended (.pdf file) to July 6. Originally, OSHA scheduled a meeting on the issue for June 25 with a comment deadline of June 11. However, OSHA decided to lengthen the comment period to allow more time for stakeholders unable to attend the meeting to comment on the proposed measures and issues that may arise during the hearing.
