OSHA publishes resources for marine cargo handling, electrical power industry

OSHA on Feb. 1 released three QuickCards on safety in marine cargo handling operations. The topics are Gangway Safety in Marine Cargo Handling (large .pdf file), First Aid in Marine Cargo Handling (.pdf file) and Lifesaving Facilities in Marine Cargo Handling (large .pdf file).

OSHA also launched an eTool for employers and qualified workers in the electric power industry. Potential hazards in that field include arc flash, electric shock, falls and thermal burn hazards. The eTool provides a detailed review of parts of OSHA's electric power generation transmission and distribution standard (29 CFR 1910.269), and information for employers on developing hazard prevention and control methods.
