Proposed database would show job-seekers' comp-claim history

Jefferson City, MO – New state legislation would allow Missouri employers to search an online database to see job applicants’ history of filing workers’ compensation claims.

S.B. 34 (.pdf file), which would require the Missouri Division of Workers’ Compensation to develop and maintain the database, was approved by the House on May 13 and sent to Gov. Jay Nixon (D) for signature.

The database could be searched by name or Social Security number, and would show the date and status of claims.
