Radiation advisory board to meet this month

The Advisory Board on Radiation and Worker Health is scheduled to meet later this month to discuss several special exposure cohort status petitions.

The board's public meeting will take place May 19-21 in New York. A public comment period is scheduled for the evenings of May 19 and 20.

A component of NIOSH, the board advises the Secretary of Health and Human Services on matters pertaining to workers who develop cancer while exposed to radiation on the job. Granting a petition seeking SEC status expedites compensation and medical care for employees with cancer by making it easier to establish the cancer was job-related.
