VPP, SST among programs slated for audit in 2012

Washington – OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Programs and Site-Specific Targeting Program (.pdf file) are two of several programs scheduled to receive audits this fiscal year from the Department of Labor Office of Inspector General, according to a recently released work plan (.pdf file).

The plan outlines the mandatory and discretionary audits OIG intends to conduct in FY 2012. Audits of VPP and SST are discretionary. Other discretionary audits include:

  • OSHA’s management accountability program
  • The Mine Safety and Health Administration’s oversight of miner training
  • The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ survey of occupational injuries, illnesses and fatalities

OIG also is planning a mandatory audit of the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act’s Special Benefit Fund, which provides civilian employees with income and medical cost protection for work-related injuries, diseases and deaths.
