Washington — OSHA recently released a poster and video that detail seven steps to properly put on and remove a respirator at work.

Released May 5, the poster and corresponding two-minute video demonstrate and describe how to put on a respirator and adjust it. If workers touch their respirator while using it, OSHA advises they wash their hands. The agency also notes that workers should use gloves when inspecting or putting on a respirator that was previously used.

The poster and video feature steps to remove a respirator and advise the disposal of it – if not being reused because of supply shortages – in a “closed-bin waste receptacle.”

The poster is available in English and Spanish.
