2021 is the Year of the Safety Hero, NSC president says

Thank-You

Itasca, IL — As a nod to safety professionals’ efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Safety Council has declared 2021 the Year of the Safety Hero.

“You’ve stepped up to lead and serve others amid unimaginable circumstances,” NSC President and CEO Lorraine M. Martin told attendees during the Opening Session of the virtual NSC Safety Congress & Expo on March 3. “You’ve faced a once-in-a-century pandemic with courage and dedication, confronting each challenge head on. Traditional safety risks never paused during this time and neither did you.

“It’s time to recognize the vital role that safety professionals play in every industry and every day.”

NSC is calling for people to recognize their safety hero throughout the year on social media with the hashtag #SafetyHero.

“This has been a long and difficult year, but know that you are indispensable,” Martin said. “Safety pros are the nation’s secret weapon in the fight to save lives.”
