Michaels urges safety at WTC construction site
Reflecting on the lives already lost at the site of the former World Trade Center in New York, OSHA administrator David Michaels urged workers constructing the new One World Trade Center to work safely.
In a Sept. 2 speech at the site of the construction project -- which is near the former World Trade Center -- Michaels said he hoped the tower would stand as a monument not only to honor the lives lost in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, but also as a monument to worker safety.
"This site needs no more tragedy, no more wounded workers, and no more grieving families," he said.
Michaels encouraged a goal of zero deaths and zero serious injuries at the site, and praised individuals who work on safety at the site.
