Obama creates interagency health initiative

President Barack Obama last week established the first-ever federal interagency initiative aimed at improving Americans' health.

The National Prevention, Health Promotion and Public Health Council comprises many of the president's department secretaries, including Labor, Transportation, and Health and Human Services.

Authorized under the health care reform law, the council is tasked with developing a national health promotion strategy to improve the health of Americans and reduce preventable illnesses.
