Kanella S. Hatchett

Age: 37
Logistics Officer (Safety)
Marine Corps Embassy Security Group
Quantico, VA

“Capt. Hatchett constructed and instituted a Command Unit Safety Representative Program to get all appointed USRs properly trained. She enrolled 16 Marines in the 8-hour Initial USR course to learn the Recreational Off-Duty Safety, Enterprise Safety Application Management System, Electrical, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Safety Program Administration, Ergonomics, Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, and Mishaps. Once Marines completed the course, Capt. Hatchett required graduates to develop standardized USR turnover binders for each of their sections with weekly, monthly and quarterly responsibilities. Over the course of six months, Capt. Hatchet, utilizing the USR(s), completed 192 inspections.”
