“To build the desired project safety culture, Ryan was instrumental in developing, promoting and executing the ‘Crew of the Month’ contest. Each month, a crew was evaluated on three metrics: safety, quality and production. At the end of each month, management evaluates each crew and a winner is chosen. Crews are recognized at project meetings, have their picture posted, and are rewarded with either a lunch or T-shirts. The response was amazing. Crew members started holding each other accountable for safe work planning, wearing of PPE and unsafe work practices. Employees who never worked together before started to become cohesive teams.”
